God's Left Us

by Sprite Guard

God's left us on our own for now it seems
He's turned the lights out and he's locked the door
And only visits sometimes in our dreams

On beaches where the summer water gleams
No heroes in their shipwrecks wash ashore
God's left us on our own for now it seems

He always picked us last when choosing teams
He acted like our presence was a chore
And only visits sometimes in our dreams

The world's design is tearing at the seams
There's nothing left to balance blood and gore
God's left us on our own for now it seems

Perhaps he tired of our petty themes
So left us to our poverty and war
And only visits sometimes in our dreams

The thought that we're yet living, though, redeems
The human race in my eyes even more
God's left us on our own for now it seems
And only visits sometimes in our dreams
